The Third Floor is looking for an enthusiastic Character Supervisor to join our new Animation Department. The Character Supervisor will oversee a team of 3D artists to create stylized 3D characters, as well as work with members of other departments to ensure artistic styles and pipelines are being implemented. Utilizing their artistic skills and vision, the ideal candidate will be able to help create high-level character designs and yield high production quality, while ensuring that projects are on schedule and budget. Candidates should be familiar with ZBrush, Maya, and Finals Animation/CG Pipeline.
Full Time. Remote Position.Must be in the state of California, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York (Outside NYC), Colorado, or Canada for remote positions.
Responsibilities:
- 3D Model/Sculpt and texture appealing 3D characters.
- Lead a team of 3D artists to create 3D stylized characters.
- Work with a team of art directors and designers to ensure high-level designs are achieved
- Work with the animation/rigging team to ensure proper implementation of technical specs
- Work with pipeline and help give feedback on tools to ease the flow of asset creation.
Essential Skills:
- Sculpt high-resolution character models in Zbrush
- Expert knowledge in Maya and ability to retopo as needed.
- Good understanding of anatomy
- Good understanding of appeal in character design
- Experience as a 3D character artist in film, tv, or games industry.
- Strong modeling, texturing, and uv skills
- Knowledge of texturing packages such as Photoshop, Substance Painter, Mari, etc.
- Prior experience in an animated feature film (plus)
- Knowledge of unreal and/or real-time pipelines (plus)
- 2D Skills to quickly mock-up and iterate designs (plus)
Personal attributes:
- Organized and able to communicate with other departments effectively
- Able to discern priorities and find efficient workflows within the time allotted
- Self-starter and can reach a goal with minimal direction.
The pay scale is between $130,000 - $175,000 salary based on experience, skillset and other factors. Additional TTF benefits: Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision), Sick Time, 401k (staff only), PTO (staff only), and additional Perks & Benefits.
