The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute® is an acting school and theatre in West Hollywood, CA dedicated to the ideals, values, and vision of Lee Strasberg’s innovative work, known throughout the world as The Method.

The Technical Director (TD) will crew or coordinate crew and planning on all productions and special events, including design work (lighting and sound) for special events and maintain inventory. The TD ensures safe-working practices while using and maintaining the theatre and associated spaces and maintaining standards (NAST, Equity, etc.). The TD stays abreast of current technical trends in the field and provides input on the most efficient, safe and effective use of equipment and personnel. The TD maintains The Institute's theatres and its equipment, Soundstage and film equipment, and classroom spaces.

Responsibilities:
- Setting and enforcing safe-use guidelines for equipment including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of theatre & Soundstage
- Develop and implement procedures and protocols to ensure efficient and effective operations (theatrical, film and education)
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities & equipment to identify needs and address them promptly
- Assists with the preparation and control of production budgets; maintains inventory and orders specialized supplies
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment
- Develop, implement and manage safety protocols and procedures for theatre, building and educational facility
- Act as the last line of defense for technical problem

Skills:
- Theatrical design (sound, lighting, production design, including carpentry)
- Technical equipment knowledge and operation (film, audio/visual, projection)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors and team members
- Great time management, organization and prioritization abilities
- Experience with Google Drive
- Excellent computer and technical skills
-Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skill

The position has a minimum base of 10 hours per week with additional projects and events through The Institute and outside rentals. The ideal candidate has strong communication and organizational skills and is proactive. Responsible for all technical aspects of the theatre & film areas of the school.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $29.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
