POSITION OVERVIEW


The Manager, Feature Film Program is charged with managing outreach, tracking, and the application and submission review processes for Feature Film Program (FFP) and Producing Program Labs, Screenwriters Intensive, and Fellowships.


The position works closely under the Deputy Director, FFP to manage Feature Film Program activities and processes for the annual Development Track application and programs, as well as the annual Directors Lab. It also works closely with the Director of Producing and Artist Support on Producers Track activities, including the annual Lab & Fellowship selection process, year-round programming, Sundance Film Festival activations, ELEVATE professional development track, and other initiatives throughout the year.


The bulk of this position's work may be executed remotely, but this position must be based within the greater Los Angeles, CA area in order to work onsite in a hybrid capacity as needed throughout the year. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends will be required at key points. Travel to other Institute offices or events may also be required on occasion.


Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Managing a tracking grid of FFP Development Track submissions in AirTable, including creating and updating it on a daily basis as new applications are submitted.
  • In collaboration with the Deputy Director, recruiting and interviewing new Development Track readers annually, and managing the independent contract process for all development track readers and reviewers including tracking and processing all reader and reviewer invoices for budget approval.
  • Meeting weekly with approximately half of the external script reader cohort to review coverage and evaluate submissions for Development Track programs (January Screenwriters Lab and Screenwriters Intensive.) Reading Development Track submissions and playing a key role in selections.
  • Sending standardized notification emails to Development Track applicants in Round 1 and Round 2.
  • Supporting the Deputy Director in the programmatic and operational execution of the Screenwriters Intensive, as well as providing artist and operational support onsite at the January Screenwriters Lab.
  • Supporting the Producers Track application review and selection process, including managing tracking, weekly review meetings, selection timeline and applicant communications.
  • Managing the planning, preparation, and execution of the annual Producers Lab onsite, as well as the creation of the Lab Book.
  • Managing department inbox, including communication with internal and external constituents.
  • Managing year-round communications with Producing Fellows including scheduling and supporting monthly cohort gatherings as well as providing creative feedback on work-in-progress screenplays and project advancement strategy.
  • Supporting the Producers Program Director with planning and execution of virtual and in-person Festival events including guest list creation, event management, and creating event materials, all in collaboration with the Documentary Film Producers Program Manager.
  • Maintaining internal Financier Tracking Grid in collaboration with the Documentary Film Program and Catalyst managers.
  • Managing annual Producers Fellowship industry meetings, including scheduling and communications with industry executives and fellows.
  • Managing the annual outreach and artist tracking process, working to maintain artist and industry relationships, cultivate lab applicants, and identify new talent for the Development Track and Producers Programs.
  • Representing FFP at industry events to build ongoing relationships, scout projects, and position the Institute as a leader in the field.
  • Managing department databases, including entering and updating key artist, advisor, industry, and project information into NetSuite and AirTable and responding to data set requests.
  • Ensuring that FFP and Producers Program Sundance Institute web pages are maintained with updated information.
  • Organizing and updating internal program documents/spreadsheets in Google Drive, Netsuite, and Airtable and actively contributing to brainstorming sessions regarding artist support.
  • Supporting the FFP granting program by managing the grant payment and reporting process, including tracking report timelines, reporting solicitation, and collection.
  • Contributing to a year-round continuum of support for FFP artists, including reading scripts and providing feedback, project deck review, and strategic industry introductions.
  • Managing internal staff communication and webinar logistics support for ELEVATE, the Institute’s professional development track.


You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • 3 years project coordination or management experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information, including ability to prioritize.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Google Products and AirTable. Knowledge of NetSuite a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Strong interest in independent film, arts administration, or a nonprofit career.
  • Experience evaluating feature screenplays in development and writing coverage.

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience and skills, and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
