WUSA9-Washington, DC, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in Tampa is seeking a Freelance Video Editor to join us in our news department.

The ideal candidate is proficient at creating captivating and shareable content for television, social media, and mobile platforms.
You must be a self-starter who is technologically savvy and can work under tight deadlines.
We are looking for individuals who possess a keen artistic eye, a deep understanding of editing and photography techniques, and a passion for storytelling.

The freelance video editor works closely with executive producers, producers and reporting staff in the newsroom. The ideal video editor possesses excellent communication and organizational skills; must work well under pressure, within a team environment and have the ability to think outside-the-box when it comes to editing.

Responsibilities:

  • Editing a variety of video elements including voice-overs, SOTS, packages, graphics and teases for both broadcast and digital.
  • Ability to operate non-linear edit systems, experience with Edius and Adobe Premiere.
  • Coordinate incoming video feeds to record and route video and sounds to other parts of the building.
  • Must always have a professional demeanor and work well/as a team player with news team and staff
  • Ability to multi-task, handling editing assignments and capturing feeds and FTP material, while constantly monitoring quality control editing to scripts and producer notes
  • Work closely with news producers, reporters, photojournalists, and the digital team to create the best morning show around
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer


Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • Knowledge of non-linear editing systems using Edius, Premiere, and Photoshop
  • Interest in broadcast and digital news content
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under deadline pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be deadline-oriented, maintaining quality while staying on tight schedules
  • Must be able to work early mornings, nights and weekends
  • The ability to adhere to brand guidelines and standards is also a must
