This is a unique opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic and prolific indie studio, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and operating in both north and south of the 49th parallel.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid position with both in-office and work-from-home flexibility. The Vice President Marketing Communications will lead and define all internal and external communications, social media initiatives and partner with external agency Ink Media on public relations initiatives and strategy for Blink49 Studios. The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in entertainment communications with extensive experience developing and implementing PR campaigns for television productions and studio initiatives. This role will centralize and elevate communications functions currently distributed across the organization and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Alignment and Marketing Initiatives
Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and budgets that integrate paid media efforts, including advertising, sponsorships, and promotional partnerships.
Collaborate with Ink Media to ensure alignment between PR and marketing efforts, maintaining consistent messaging and maximizing impact.
Lead strategic direction for the company’s social media to maximize audience engagement and brand awareness.
Elevate Blink49’s overall brand presence.
Show-Specific Marketing and Assets
Manage show-specific marketing campaigns and discussions with networks and partners.
Oversee social media campaigns and events like screenings and cast/crew events.
Source, create, and manage a centralized folder for all marketing assets across Blink49 shows, including show-related pitch decks and one sheets.
Event Management and Brand Activation
Oversee Blink49’s presence at industry events, managing sponsorships, advertising, promotional materials, and logistics.
Ensure branding and marketing efforts are optimized to increase visibility.
Internal and Executive Support
Develop corporate and project specific marketing materials such as pitch decks, brochures, and corporate reels.
Manage Blink49’s industry membership strategy (e.g., CSA membership, FRAPA Board).
Collaborate with Ink Media and HR to align internal communications, ensuring all company materials and initiatives reflect consistent messaging and brand identity.
Organize company events, including screenings, retreats, and special dinners, aligning these initiatives with Blink49’s branding and marketing objectives.
Oversee Blink49's corporate website and collaborate with our investment companies on their websites, while liaising with our website designer and other third party vendors.
Awards Strategy and Submissions
Oversee the awards strategy and submissions, ensuring Blink49's projects are strategically positioned for industry awards and visibility.
Handle all aspects of awards-related promotions, including the development of marketing materials and event management tied to the awards process.
International Distributor Support
Collaborate with international partners to support marketing efforts.
Ensure delivery of trailers, posters, and promotional materials for international use.
Qualifications
Proven experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the entertainment industry.
Deep understanding of social media strategy and content development for entertainment brands.
Experience managing agency relationships and external communications partners.
Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Strong media relations skills with established high-level industry contacts.
Significant experience in crisis communications and reputation management.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with C-suite executives.
Strategic vision with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities.
