Overview:
The Celebrity Liaison Director manages and facilitates interactions between celebrities and their publicists to AARP by connecting celebrities with opportunities that align with their interests and AARP organizational goals. Serves as adviser and thought partner to the Editor in Chief and Editorial Director on booking appropriate talent that will drive member engagement and interest. Responsibilities:

The Celebrity Liaison Director manages and facilitates interactions between celebrities and their publicists to AARP by connecting celebrities with opportunities that align with their interests and AARP organizational goals. Serves as adviser and thought partner to the Editor in Chief and Editorial Director on booking appropriate talent that will drive member engagement and interest.
- Advise Editor in Chief, Editorial Director and other internal stakeholders on talent and entertainment trends by monitoring celebrity activity, film, television and other projects throughout the entertainment industry to suggest timely and appropriate celebrities/projects for coverage and usage on AARP’s platforms and related projects.
- Identify and book talent for magazine covers, feature articles, organizational events, and manage all aspects of each project, in-person, virtual and asynchronous. Coordinate all celebrity outreach throughout AARP to capture celebrity reach outs, avoid duplication, and maximize usage across content, channels and departments.
- Provide overflow celebrity/entertainment content ideas for online, magazine, and studio editors, while working closely with them to ensure the best art and editing as each project unfolds, and create, review and provide content and/or edit notes for final product.
- Manage and oversee all details involved with identifying celebrities, booking and contracting, and relevant logistics needed to ensure successful participation for all enterprise initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media, Entertainment, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working directly with celebrities, publicists, talent agents, or in talent relations within media, entertainment, or a nonprofit environment.
- Proven knowledge of the entertainment industry, including trends in film, television, streaming, and celebrity culture, with the ability to assess and recommend talent that aligns with brand identity and goals; Keen sense of discretion and professionalism in working with high-profile individuals and handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Proven experience booking and coordinating talent for editorial, event, and multimedia projects, including securing contracts and managing logistics (travel, scheduling, permissions, etc.).
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to maintain and grow a network of industry contacts, including publicists, agents, managers, and talent.
- Creative editorial sensibility with experience contributing to content development and understanding of storytelling, audience engagement, and editorial production timelines.
- Project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities, and collaborate across departments in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with contracts, licensing, and usage rights as they pertain to celebrity participation in branded or editorial content.
