theSkimm, a part of Everyday Health Consumer, is hiring an Editorial Director to oversee all of our newsletter coverage.

We have a lot of creative freedom and understanding of our audience, and we work together to deliver informative, accurate, accessible content. We create the articles, podcasts, videos, etc. that power our website, newsletters, podcasts, social channels, and more.
You'll be responsible for overseeing all newsletter editorial strategy and teams at theSkimm. This role reports to the SVP, Content & Comms.
What you'll be doing

Overseeing news strategy – from our overall POV to how we cover day-to-day stories and breaking news events across platforms, including but not limited to social

Overseeing editorial newsletter products – Daily Skimm, Daily Skimm Weekend, Skimm Well, Skimm Sports, and Skimm Money – to ensure that we're producing quality and engaging content for our audience

Managing the editorial teams and schedules, helping to cultivate a strong culture of excellence, inclusivity, and growth.

Owning news campaigns such as elections, Olympics, end-of-year coverage, etc.

Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Product, and other departments to collaborate on product development, design, process, and sales inventory
Job Qualifications.

Bachelor’s Degree
-
An editorial leader and self-starter who lives and breathes news
-

5-10 years of digital news editing/production experience
-
2-3 years managing news coverage, ideally across platforms

Demonstrated experience using audience and performance data to inform editorial strategy

The energy and creativity to bring big ideas

Proven ability to work professionally and seamlessly with other departments — sales, product, design, etc. — and balance company priorities with what the audience needs and wants

Strong management skills and demonstrated ability to motivate a team through difficult news cycles

Strong organizational skills, particularly around project management and scheduling

Availability to work some weekend hours and guide breaking news coverage as needed

Ability and willingness to represent theSkimm as news talent on panels, podcasts, print, TV, etc..
