Job Description
Cut is one of the most-watched unscripted video channels on the internet. Our shows like Truth or Drink, The Break Up Game, Lineup, and more are watched by tens of millions of people every week because they do something rare: they get real people to take real emotional risks, and it's genuinely delightful to watch. We're a lean, creative-first team. We care a lot about the work. The people who thrive here are the ones who think carefully about the story, move fast, and take ownership without waiting to be asked.
The Role
We're looking for a Head of Production to own the pipeline that turns greenlighted ideas into published videos. This is a general management role at its core. You'll run the meeting cadence, manage the team, coordinate across editing and creative, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks on the way from concept to launch.
You need to understand storytelling deeply, know what a great edit looks like and why, and have the organizational clarity to keep a weekly release schedule running smoothly. If you've spent most of your career in post-production, development, or creative operations and you've grown into managing people and process, this role was probably written for you.
What You'll Own
Pipeline & Schedule
- Keep 2–3 episodes moving simultaneously through the production cycle
- Hold the team accountable to deadlines without creating bureaucracy
- Participate in monthly greenlight meetings alongside the CEOs
- Review episode bibles, casting decks, and edit deliverables for alignment with brand and story standards
Post-Production Oversight
- Manage the editorial workflow through Frame.io string outs through locked cut
- Understand what each stage of an edit is supposed to accomplish and hold editors to those standards
- Give clear, specific feedback on story structure, pacing, and emotional arc
- Oversee the launch checklist: UVR submission, YouTube Studio setup, A/B thumbnail testing, performance email threads
Team & Partner Coordination
- Manage casting producers and coordinate with the creative director on casting process and timelines
- Coordinate with short-form syndication partners (Decked Media) on a weekly basis
- Oversee talent and crew logistics, including travel coordination
Operations & Finance
- Own episode code creation and expense tracking across Ramp and QuickBooks Online
- Manage Wrapbook payroll onboarding for crew and talent
- Track production spend against budget by episode
Required
- 5+ years in a creative or production operations role at a video, media, or content company
- Real fluency with post-production, you know the difference between a rough cut that's on track and one that's structurally broken, and you can articulate why
- Strong instincts for story: pacing, emotional arc, retention, what makes an audience keep watching
- Experience managing people and owning a production schedule, not just executing within one
- Comfort running meetings, giving creative feedback, and coordinating across a small leadership team
- Highly organized multiple episodes at different stages, simultaneous deadlines, no hand-holding
Nice to Have
- Experience at a YouTube-native or social-first content brand
- Familiarity with Frame.io, YouTube Studio, Ramp, QuickBooks, or Wrapbook
- Background in unscripted, reality, or documentary formats
- Some experience with shoot/field production — enough to evaluate a production plan and ask the right questions, even if you're not directing it
