Job Overview: The Finance team is looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Accountant to support the core accounting functions of Podium. This role will report to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for managing the accounting books and records, preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, handling accounts receivables, assisting with accounts payables, and supporting the audit and tax processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of US GAAP, will think both strategically and tactically, has a proactive and detail oriented mindset, and will partner cross-functionally with Podium teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Drive a timely and accurate monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, analyzing and explaining variances, and summarizing financial results for management reporting
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts and investigate any variances
  • Reconcile monthly revenue to cash
  • Assist in preparing the consolidated monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and management package
  • Provide actual-to-budget and forecast financial variance analysis as part of the monthly close process
  • Assist with external audits and provide the necessary documentation and support
  • Assist with the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Help design improvements to policies, procedures and controls to drive efficiency and accuracy under US GAAP
  • Provide support in other accounting areas as needed, such as processing payables, tax and regulatory filings, ad-hoc analyses, M&A transactions etc.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Maintain ownership of key accounting areas, including the following:
  • Cash
  • Revenue and royalty accruals
  • Prepaid expenses
  • Fixed assets and intangible assets
  • Corporate credit card and expenses
  • Production/cost accounting
  • Print inventory
  • SG&A expenses


Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience; a mix of public accounting and corporate accounting experience is preferred
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Experience in publishing and/or media/tech industry preferred
  • Multi-entity or consolidation experience preferred
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP and relevant accounting standards and regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness is essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communicator who can build cross-functional relationships
  • Proven experience building processes and scaling workflows


Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based work setting.
  • Must be able to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from our office in El Segundo.
  • Work hours are typically from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Work hours must be flexible during month-end close, audit periods and due to ad-hoc business needs.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move around the office as needed.
