Job Description
Overview
Visionary FX is a boutique, U.S.-based visual effects studio specializing in invisible effects, cleanup, and beauty work for episodic television and feature film. The studio supports productions for leading streamers and studios, including Netflix, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Amazon, Paramount+, and Hulu, and operates as a trusted vendor for high-volume, precision-driven VFX work.
As the studio enters a focused growth phase, we are seeking a senior Executive Producer to drive revenue origination across episodic and feature VFX. This is a fractional leadership role focused on new business, structured as an ongoing engagement rather than a project-based or freelance arrangement. The role is remote, with an expectation of active engagement within the Los Angeles production and VFX community.
The Executive Producer will own the pre-award lifecycle—from relationship development and opportunity qualification through bidding and award—leveraging existing relationships while developing new ones. Success will be measured by pipeline development, awarded work, and revenue generated against defined growth targets.
The role operates in direct partnership with the Principal, with access to senior decision-making on pricing, positioning, and bid strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with Visionary FX’s growth objectives.
- Originate, qualify, and advance new opportunities across episodic, feature, and streaming productions.
- Build and maintain relationships with VFX Supervisors, VFX Producers, Post Producers, studio executives, production companies, and larger VFX vendors.
- Develop vendor-to-vendor and overflow partnerships with larger VFX and post-production studios.
- Secure invite-to-bid opportunities and serve as the primary client-facing contact through the pre-award process.
- Partner with the Founder & Principal on opportunity qualification, bid strategy, scope definition, and pricing.
- Lead commercial discussions around rates, scope, schedules, revision parameters, and payment terms.
- Maintain clear visibility into active pipeline, forecasted revenue, and opportunity status.
- Represent Visionary FX in relevant industry meetings, events, and networking environments.
- Provide market insight to inform studio positioning, pricing, and growth strategy.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in VFX business development, executive production, or senior commercial roles on the vendor side.
- Demonstrated track record of originating and closing VFX work in episodic and/or feature production.
- Established, active relationships within the U.S. production and VFX community, particularly in Los Angeles.
- Strong understanding of VFX bidding workflows, vendor selection processes, and award dynamics.
- Experience managing pipeline development and driving revenue against defined targets.
- Proven ability to operate independently in a client-facing capacity.
- Strong commercial judgment across pricing, scope, and negotiation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in boutique or mid-size VFX studios.
- Background in invisible effects, cleanup, paint, or compositing-heavy workflows.
- Experience developing sub-vendor or overflow partnerships.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as IMDbPro, Production Weekly, or CRM systems.
- Working knowledge of studio security and compliance requirements, including TPN.
Compensation
Compensation for this role is competitive and structured to reward performance, consisting of a monthly retainer and commission on new business.
Estimated total annual earnings range from $120,000 to $250,000+, depending on performance. Earnings are directly tied to revenue generated, with uncapped upside.
Specific details regarding compensation and commission structure will be discussed during the interview process.
Why Visionary FX
- Opportunity to build and shape the business development function within a growing studio.
- Direct partnership with the Principal on business development and growth strategy.
- High-autonomy environment with streamlined decision-making.
- Remote, flexible engagement structure with potential to expand scope over time.
- Performance-driven compensation aligned with results.
