Seeking an intern to work with the Princess, Frozen, and Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS) toy design team to assist on specific licensed toy projects. The intern would help identify toy and fashion trends, brainstorm new concepts, develop inspiration boards, and sketch toy ideas. They will work with the design team to give guidance on product design to Disney licensees. The individual will work on 3 specific projects over the course of the internship as well as being exposed to the daily responsibilities of the Disney consumer products design team. They will learn about the product development process from concept through production working with internal staff and licensees. The intern will be responsible for working with the Design Manager and design teams to extend existing business and generate concepts for new business.
The intern will report to the Manger, Product Design, Hardlines Disney Princess, Frozen, and WDAS Toys.
What You Will Do
Working with the product design Manager and design team on licensed Disney Consumer Products toy lines
Participating in product approvals including creative reviews, feedback sessions, and key meetings with licensees
Making artistic contributions to new initiatives by sketching concepts, crafting trend boards, and sharing ideas
Monitoring competitors, product innovation and market dynamics
Researching Initial seasonal trends by category
Coordinating product submissions for creative reviews and approvals with design team
Coordinating and maintaining product and market samples
Recommending product ideas to build and strengthen businesses
Presenting concepts and project deliverables to management and internal teams
Limited domestic travel for onsite product approval with licensees
Required Qualifications & Skills
Solid knowledge toy categories, particularly dolls, playsets, roleplay
Exhibits ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
High level understanding of manufacturing (raw materials, plastic molding, textiles, deco applications, label art)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application)
Strong computer software skills (e.g. MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), 3D software skills a plus
Education
Currently enrolled in college or university as a Senior or recent graduate (within 6 months) pursuing a degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Illustration or a related design field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Possess unrestricted work authorization

This internship is a hybrid position and requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
The approximate dates of this internship are September 2024 through January 2025
Fully available from Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 6 PM Pacific Time Zone for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Glendale, CA area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
