DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE SERVICES
The Altoona Curve, the Class ‘AA’ affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates and member of the AA-Eastern League is searching for their next Director of Creative Services. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Creative Services for the Altoona Curve will perform the following job duties:
- In conjunction with the promotional and sales team, produce and execute all audio and video played in Peoples Natural Gas Field during Curve home games and non-game day events. This includes utilizing of our large video board, right-field video board, ballpark audio system, closed circuit channel, MiLB.TV feed, and our remote-controlled fireworks canons during the National Anthem and after Curve home runs and wins
- Develop graphical content and maintain continuous loop of the Curve’s promotional/marketing messages on the video marquee situated adjacent to Park Avenue in front of Peoples Natural Gas Field.
- Oversee all aspects of production. This includes all necessary pre- and post-event production associated with the Curve game day, video shooting and editing, graphic design, animations, media archiving, and managing off-site productions.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Altoona Curve production staff. This includes the interviewing hiring, and scheduling of all staff.
- Work in conjunction with the Director of Marketing on the development of marketing and advertising campaigns to meet specific team objectives.
- Work in conjunction with the Director of In-Game Entertainment and Mascots to execute in-game events and activities with our mascots, fans, and promotional interns (“Toon Squad”)
- Oversee all aspects associated with the production of Curve television spots. This includes developing creative concepts, directing and producing all Curve television spots.
- Continually create new graphics and animations to enhance the Curve game day experience. This includes crowd prompts, in-game and between inning promotions, sponsored content, etc.
- Serve as the Curve game day director during all Curve home games and non-baseball events. Hire and train necessary staff to manage production needs for non-baseball events.
- Create relevant video content to Curve’s online platforms (Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, TikTok, website) in conjunction with the marketing team to enhance and extend the reach of the Curve brand.
- Maintain and improve setup and layout of the Curve production studio and all assets and equipment.
- Manage all production efforts related to in-game and event promotions
- Have the ability to diagnose and/or troubleshoot technical issues that may be affecting the performance of the video board, audio system, and related equipment.
- Draft all game day production and PA scripts for all Curve home games.
- Work closely with the sponsorship sales staff to help develop packages that meet sponsor objectives and add entertainment to Curve events.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the General Manager.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- College Degree with a major or emphasis related to broadcast/video production
- Two years of experience working in video production – preferably in sports or entertainment
- Experience with Motion Rocket system and related hardware/software packages to produce premium video and audio content
- Working knowledge of how to produce and direct in-game content and closed circuit broadcasts
- Ability to work evenings and weekends and to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
