Do you want to work for a Championship organization? We have the job for you! The Miami HEAT Broadcasting team is seeking a Television Director! This role is responsible for coordinating various aspects of broadcast production as assigned by the Executive Producer. The primary responsibility for this position is the live direction of the game broadcasts, including, if necessary, directing pre- and post-game shows at home and on the road. The position will also be responsible for managing various aspects of technical logistics and coordination with the broadcasts and within the department, and will be the direct supervisor for the Content Producer/Editor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

Game-Related Responsibilities:

Directing at least 60 television game broadcasts as assigned by the Executive Producer (directing to include but not be limited to: coordinating technical logistics of shows, working with crew and regional broadcast operations staff, crewer and facilities vendors, completing producer reports)

- Keeping up-to-date technical paperwork and specs for home and road broadcasts
- Completing facilities requests forms as required by the NBA
- Working with the Director of Broadcast Operations and Media Technology and the game day tech manager on various aspects of show setup up including technical setup of all equipment and facilities in Dr Jack Ramsay Memorial Media Center
- Coordinating various logistics requests with arena operations and engineering staff as it relates to game broadcasts for home and visitor (Cam locations, truck parking, etc)
- Working with the television broadcast partner on crew-related issues, including safety concerns, call-times, arena requirements and procedures, and general logistics concerns
- Working with SMR staff and crewing provider on season and game-day credential needs for crew

Additional departmental responsibilities:

Maintaining organization of HEAT spotbox, all videotape elements, including scenic library
Assisting the Associate Producer with x-file library organization and maintenance
Attending and contributing ideas and feedback during staff & departmental meetings

Management Responsibilities:

Serving as the direct manager for the broadcast content producer/editor & Content Associate. This includes:

Training & Development of individuals' day-to-day responsibilities and future career goals
Providing bi-annual reviews and providing feedback, guidance, and employee support and direction
Managing PTO and time card management
Working with the employee to approve the annual PPO planning

In addition, the Television Director is the de facto supervisor of the entire home and visitor crew, acting to ensure their well-being, development, safety, and accountability of performance. The Television Director is the lead ambassador for the HEAT broadcast staff in dealing with the technical crew and issues that arise with them throughout the course of the season.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a 4-year college or technical school. Very organized and detail-oriented. Able to meet tight deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced, fluid environment while balancing multiple tasks at once. Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.

At least 5 years of truck-based experience as a director in the field of televised sports.
At least 3 years of experience with NBA Basketball
