Overview

Groove Science Studios, creators of Soundscape — a cutting-edge immersive music platform built in Unreal Engine 5 — is seeking a Senior VFX Artist with exceptional real-time experience to help us shape the future of interactive music environments. You'll be joining a small, focused, and passionate team working at the intersection of live music, immersive storytelling, and interactive design. Groove Science Studios was named “XR Rising Company of the Year” in 2024 and was also nominated for “XF Film & Experience of the Year” and The Obsidian Award: “Innovation in VR.”

Note: This is a real-time, performance-critical role. If you are not highly skilled in optimization, or if your primary experience lies in film or television VFX, this position is likely not the right fit.

Responsibilities

Design and implement real-time VFX using Niagara in Unreal Engine 5
Collaborate with designers, artists, and developers to create cohesive, performant visuals
Prototype and iterate effects that elevate the mood, energy, and impact of Soundscape environments
Optimize assets for high performance across platforms (VR, PC, etc.)
Maintain and evolve internal FX libraries, toolsets, and pipelines
Stay up to date on emerging techniques, tools, and trends in real-time VFX

Qualifications

10+ years of experience creating real-time VFX for games
Expert-level proficiency with Unreal Engine 5 and Niagara
Strong portfolio or reel showing shipped projects or live experiences
Solid understanding of performance optimization, shaders, lighting, and particle systems
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Self-starter with a passion for immersive visual storytelling
