Job Title: Gaming VFX Artist

Job Description

We are seeking a talented VFX Artist to join our dynamic team. This role requires expertise in creating and implementing high-quality visual effects for games, utilizing real-time particle systems, textures, shaders, and scripting. You will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and artists to ensure visually compelling and performant game environments.

Responsibilities

Independently create and implement high-quality, performant, and visually compelling VFX assets, tools, and systems for games.
Develop real-time particle systems, textures, texture atlases, shaders/materials, and scripting/Blueprints as needed.
Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and related artists to design, implement, and troubleshoot VFX.
Initiate tasks and projects, meet deadlines, and actively contribute to team VFX goals, prioritization, and scheduling.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues.
Maintain a meticulous, organized approach to creating, documenting, and sharing VFX for the team.
Foster a positive and flexible attitude within the studio, adapting to the evolving needs of the team.

Essential Skills

Proficiency with Unreal Engine technology, including mastery of Niagara for real-time VFX.
Strong skills in shader and material creation, particularly using HLSL or Unreal’s material editor.
Experience with real-time particle systems and texture atlases.
Ability to implement and control VFX systems using Unreal Engine’s Blueprint system.
Expertise in performance optimization within real-time environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in the gaming industry with real-time VFX.
Having shipped 2–3 AAA titles, showcasing ability to deliver at scale.
5+ years of experience in game development, indicating maturity in handling complex pipelines and production cycles.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, digital art, or related fields.
Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, aligning VFX with gameplay and narrative.
Proficiency in documenting and organizing VFX assets for team efficiency.
Self-management skills, including proactive task initiation and positive team contribution.
Knowledge of HLSL or equivalent shader writing languages.
Familiarity with Houdini and scripting languages such as Python, Vex, or Mel.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $72.00/hr.
