Overview
101 Studios is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Los Angeles office. This is a full-time, on-site role responsible for overseeing core accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will lead the preparation of financial statements, supervise the recording of journal entries, and manage fixed asset accounting processes. This role will partner closely with the finance team to conduct financial analysis, support strategic initiatives, and maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. In addition to strong technical expertise, the ideal candidate will provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team while collaborating cross-functionally to support the company’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Payables Management:
· Review invoice and transactional coding with high level of detail
· Vendor onboarding, payments and vendor reconciliations
· Review employee and travel expenses to ensure compliance with company policies
· Annual 1099 filing and quarterly reviews
Core Accounting:
· Manage and execute core accounting functions including journal entries, bank reconciliations and month-end close processes and reports
· Prepare supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP and company policies
· Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation to support audits and compliance requirements
Accounting Operations:
· Assist in the procurement, design, and implementation of new accounting systems supporting accounts payable, expense management, travel, reimbursements, and corporate card programs
· Continuously identify and implement process improvements leveraging automation and technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy
· Assess internal control gaps and implement remediation plans to ensure compliance and operational integrity
· Prepare financial presentations, create training guides, templates and forms that assist in compliance with accounting and company policies
Other Responsibilities:
· Oversee and assist with preparation of state and local tax schedules and filings; respond to tax inquiries as needed
· Participate in ad hoc projects, financial analyses, and other assignments as requested
· Stay current on accounting regulations, trends, and best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant and efficient
· Building and delivering timely and accurate reports and variance analyses for leadership review
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
· 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including a mix of public accounting (CPA firm) and private industry experience in entertainment or media
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Accounting systems experience; NetSuite or comparable ERP highly preferred
· Experience with online platforms for credit cards (Brex, American Express), expense reports (Expensify) and large bank systems (Bank of America Cash Pro)
· Experience building templates, forms and reports including graphical presentations with PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Acrobat
· Ability to clearly present financial information and results to senior leadership
· Ability to communicate (written/verbal) in a professional manner while understanding how to communicate effectively with coworkers, senior leaders, stakeholders, external vendors, etc.
