The Recording Academy (RA) is growing and has an exciting new division, Grammy Global Ventures (GGV) that is expanding internationally. This new division's business model is structured like a holding company for studios, online education, sponsorships, live events, and future TBD with each eventually having its own VP leader of the individual business units.

Who We’re Looking For
We have an exciting new role for a Chief Strategy Officer reporting to the President. This individual will partner with key stakeholders, create an operating roadmap, financial model, and strategic plan then implement these with the team, vendors, and partners worldwide. This role will also work with the CEO, President and our consultants in developing the right capitalization plan for the entity.
The right candidate must have an exceptionally strong financial background with experience in private equity capital raising, be a big-picture thinker, have a bias for action, accountability, and is results driven. This is a great opportunity to launch a start-up venture with a premier brand with funding, and to build a profitable business infrastructure that adds value to the industry.

Financial Responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- In consultation with GGV senior leadership, board, and investment banks, help develop and refine 5+ year operating and financial plans, models, and projections for GGV.
- This includes sources and uses of capital; detailed buildout of all relevant revenue and investment opportunities including but not limited to the areas of media rights, regional academy operations, educational content, studio/commercial content, local experience centers, etc.
- Above may include "internal" and "external" modeling and scenarios for GGV leadership only
- Advise GGV leadership on any contractual negotiations with investment banks or possible fund GPs.
- Work with GGV leadership and investment bank advisors to model and develop various structuring and funding scenarios as defined in GGV strategic plan
- Includes developing internal-only scenarios for ideal GP structure and funding models to optimize outcomes for GGV and RA
- Work with the CEO, President, CFO, EVP Legal , and Investment Banks to prepare and undergo the due diligence process for prospective investment.
- This includes assisting in data room set up and management, complete with all relevant and historical documents needed for the successful diligence process
- Assist with any and all coordination necessary to ensure the successful execution of the diligence process
- Act as "in-house" advisor to GGV leadership during prospective term sheet and definitive agreement negotiations and with respect to overarching financial, equity, fund structures and strategy; to ensure maximum benefit for GGV/RA post projected funding transactions
- As needed, accompany GGV leadership to prospective investor presentations, calls, etc.
- Collaborate with GGV leadership on financial and operational controls and metrics within the organization
- Work with GGV leadership in building financial relationships between all relevant business entities including investors, shareholders, and outside lending/equity
- Work with Grammy Global Venture Partners (GGVP)
Operational Responsibilities
- Advise on the creation, development, and execution of the strategic plan and programs including incorporating new technologies across the enterprise
- Work with GGV leadership to build and lead highly functional motivated teams
- Advise GGV leadership on the right operating structure, organizational structure, and staffing model for GGV as "Hold Co" of multiple business lines (as outlined above) as well as domiciles and physical locations
- Work in close partnership with GGV leadership to ensure the successful launch/structure of operating plans in global regions
- Includes close coordination with both outside contractors and internal RA leaders
- In collaboration with GGV and RA leadership, assist in the preparation of detailed GGV materials and presentations needed for RA & GGV board meetings or calls in the lead-up to projected deal closings to ensure a smooth process
- Advise GGV board and executive management team of financial, and operational milestones and overall progress
International Expansion Responsibilities
- Collaborate with GGV leadership to develop best practices and a playbook for the international expansion
- Work closely with consultants on operationalizing each local academy as well as creating the operating manual for how to franchise the Academy’s best policies, practices, and procedures
- Work with Executive Directors in possible new International Academies
- Collaborate with regional players to execute the strategic plan including but not limited to regional GRAMMYS broadcasts, global GRAMMYS centers, hubs, other events, and initiatives
Skills & Experience
- The Chief Strategy Officer must be an influential leader who leads by example, has a growth mindset, inspires trust, and set high-performance standards while creating a positive, collaborative, and high-performing work culture
- The ideal candidate must have 10-12 years of experience in managing complex financial models as well as working with private equity and venture capital firms. Preferably, this individual will have an investment banking and fund background as well as have experience raising capital through various vehicles
- Individual must be a solid financial strategist with exceptional communication and presentation skills, and be a day-to-day interlocutor among investors, executive leaders, stakeholders, the board of directors, general and limited partners
- Have demonstrated ability to execute complex strategies and working across multiple stakeholders
- Strong emotional intelligence leader that can work across multiple teams and disciplines inside and outside the organization
- International experience required with an understanding of foreign financial strategies, complex global financial markets, investment banking, tax, investment analysis, and working with sovereign nations
- The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit with a background in managing multiple business lines including sponsorships, live event production, multi-national environments, franchises, raising capital, engineering, and technical environments
- MBA highly desired with a minimum Bachelor’s degree in business administration, international business finance, or economics with an emphasis on strategic planning, operations, and financial management
- Music industry experience preferred
- A background in international media, film, streaming, or studio financing is a plus
- Minimum 50% international travel with working remotely as an option
- Individuals who have lived abroad and have first-hand experience working with different cultures and customs is a major plus

LATIN RECORDING ACADEMY
The Latin Recording Academy is an international, membership-based organization comprised of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking recording artists, musicians, songwriters, producers, and other creative and technical recording professionals. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for Latin music and its makers.
