About the role
SNY is seeking a talented Digital/YouTube Producer/Editor to join our digital team. This is an opportunity for a creative candidate with a strong passion for YouTube, digital media, studying the digital space to inform production decisions and departmental goals, and understanding how engagement and growth occurs on various non-linear platforms - while serving the dedicated New York sports fan at all times. This role reports to the Director, Digital Video & Strategy.
What you’ll do
The Digital Producer/Editor will work with talent to create rundowns and scripts for long-form YouTube digital series - both existing shows and new initiatives to come – in various formats including but not limited to talk show/conversation, audience participation, and scripted. The Digital P/E will produce episodes in a live digital streaming environment, while also editing shows for VOD. Crucial to the role is the optimization of the show content for multiple platforms from You Tube, through the network website, to all social platforms – including Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
The Digital P/E will also produce and edit highlight packages, news pieces, and other special features specifically designed for YouTube and other digital platforms, with the understanding of why videos are created with certain parameters for specific platforms.
The P/E will also collaborate with the full digital team, as well as editorial and social teams, to strategize best practices for all platforms based on analytics, current trends, and audience behavior.
- Produce/Edit original digital series in various creative formats – for YouTube, the network’s website, and all social media platforms
- Produce and operate within our digital control room environment for live digital programming, working directly with on-air talent to create rundowns for original digital series
- Create versions of all show content tailored for the audience habits and operational trends native to YouTube and each specific platform in which we publish content
- Edit and publish YouTube Shorts, while monitoring performance of this emerging YouTube priority
- Be a key cog in our operation of producing videos covering games, news stories, and insider analysis on YouTube and the network website.
- Use Photoshop to create video thumbnails for all videos, and operate in a cloud studio graphics application
- Optimize linear (TV) content to be published on YouTube, the network website, and social platforms
- Build audience with an understanding of data and analytics, identifying and monitoring trends, and studying the constant evolution of the YouTube platform
- Brainstorm with others for topical content that fits within the brand
- Pitch concepts for original digital video series and features
- Contribute ideas for and help write scripts for various branded content series and sponsorship opportunities
Who you are
- You have robust writing skills, strong editorial judgment, knowledge of the New York sports landscape, and constant researching digital trends and the “rules” of YouTube.
- Must be proficient in using the following software: AVID, Photoshop, Premiere
- Editing skills should demonstrate aptitude for pacing, production value, graphics implementation, and comfortability with both short-form and long-form content
- Creative self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, strong editorial judgement, and a detailed display of project management that demonstrates the facility to organize and prioritize a long and constantly-updating “to-do” list.
- Confident writing capability and willingness to pitch new ideas
- Must be comfortable working with on-air talent in a cloud control room environment
- Must be comfortable working in a breaking news environment
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience producing digital, social, and multiplatform content
- Understanding of the YouTube platform as a whole: what works, how it works, why it works
- Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Passionate sports fan with broad knowledge of the sports industry and New York market
- Willingness to work long hours and on weekends with short notice
- Experience with the following systems a plus: Live Streaming Software Solutions, Tellyo, After Effects
