COMPANY OVERVIEW

The North Road Company was established in 2022 by Peter Chernin. The company brings together several prominent media entities, including Chernin Entertainment (a leader in scripted television and film production), North Road Television Studio (led by Amy Israel), Kinetic Content, the top reality production company led by Chris Coelen, creator of Love Is Blind, and Words + Pictures (the premium documentary studio led by Connor Schell). Since its launch, North Road has expanded its portfolio with the creation of an independent scripted television studio and acquisitions of Little Rooms Films (established by Jason Hehir), the Turkish production company Karga Seven, and the Mexican production company Perro Azul. North Road is also a strategic investor in notable ventures, including Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, Questlove and Black Thought’s Two One Five Entertainment, NBA star Chris Paul’s Ohh Dip!!! Productions, and GenAI content studio, Promise.

In January, Mediawan, the leading independent European studio, announced the signing of an agreement to acquire The North Road Company. The combination creates one of the world’s largest independent studios with major creative hubs in the five continents and capabilities spanning all genres, formats and audiences. North Road and its labels will serve as Mediawan’s North American hub.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant will assist in all core accounting close functions across North Road and affiliated entities, as needed. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, executing month-end and quarter-end close processes, and ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will also supervise key transactional and cash accounting and partner cross-functionally to support the business.

This role is based out of our Playa Vista, Los Angeles office with in-office expectations Monday through Thursday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the month-end and quarter-end close process, including month and quart-end journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
  • Supervise accounts payable, including vendor management, invoicing, and cash application
  • Maintain and enforce the Company’s revenue recognition policies in accordance with US GAAP
  • Partner with the accounting team to oversee the general ledger structure and drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and documentation
  • Research, assess, and document appropriate US GAAP accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions
  • Support the annual financial statement audit, including preparation and review of audit schedules and coordination with external auditors
  • Partner with FP&A, production, legal, and business teams to support operational and financial initiatives
  • Lead or support ad-hoc accounting and finance projects, including system enhancements and process improvements as assigned

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of financial accounting and/or audit experience
  • Experience in the entertainment industry (film and/or television)
  • Production Accounting experience a plus
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Sage Intacct preferred
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to apply US GAAP in a practical business environment
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize competing demands, and exercise sound judgment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively across teams
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-focused leadership style

At North Road, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the base salary for this role is between $115,000 - $125,000 per year. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience relevant to the job. In addition to base salary, this position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
