The Milken Institute’s events and programmatic activities, involve the exchange of ideas with leaders from around the world. The Institute hosts more than 200 events each year, with our annual flagship event, Global Conference, bringing together 4,500+ participants from around the world, featuring more than 900+ speakers throughout 200+ sessions over the course of the event.
About the Position
The Milken Institute seeks a creative visionary and technically adept Associate Director of Video Production to bring our many points of technology to life. This role is pivotal in the production of high-quality motion graphics, compositing animation, and video content, across a plethora of diverse platforms, including large-scale LED installations, immersive experiences, broadcast media, and digital channels.
The ideal candidate brings a unique blend of creative storytelling and technical proficiency, with a proven track record in directing, producing, and animating content that resonates with varied audiences. Experience in scientific or educational content production is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
The Associate Director will:
- Create end-to-end motion graphics, compositing, and video content, from concept development to post-production, ensuring alignment with the Institute's strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to produce documentaries, explainer videos, event coverage, and promotional materials.
- Manage the integration of video content across multiple platforms, including large-format LED displays and streaming services.
- Ensure all video content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains the highest quality standards.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in video production and implement innovative techniques to enhance content engagement.
- Direct shoots, comprising of camera location, lighting, sound and set design.
- Lead scripting, production, editing, and distribution of content throughout approved multi-dimensional sources
- Design and develop 3D animations/environments, immersive live productions throughout multi-LED experiences.
- Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in film production, Media Arts, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education.
- At least 5 years of experience in video production, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in directing, editing, and animating content.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects), Blender, and other 3D animation tools.
- Experience with large-scale video installations and knowledge of integrating content into diverse display systems.
- Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into engaging visual narratives.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Washington, D.C. The role may require occasional travel and flexibility to work evenings or weekends during events on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world.
