Camera Crew Member (Kpop Music)
A2O Entertainment is a Global Culture and Technology Enterprise led by Producer Soo Man Lee, the founder of K-Pop (SM Entertainment).
The Camera Crew Member will capture high-quality video footage, photos, and other visual content for a leading U.S.-based K-pop entertainment company, traveling with artists to document live performances, music videos, behind-the-scenes moments, and promotional materials. This role requires a passionate K-pop fan with a deep understanding of U.S. fan culture and artist-fan dynamics, skilled in operating professional camera equipment, and attuned to the latest social media content trends, particularly for platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The Camera Crew Member will collaborate with creative teams to produce visually compelling content that amplifies the artist’s brand and engages fans.
Key Responsibilities
- Video and Photo Capture: Operate professional cameras (e.g., Sony, Canon, ARRI) to shoot live performances, music videos, interviews, fan events, and behind-the-scenes content, ensuring high-quality visuals tailored for short-form platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Travel with Artists: Accompany K-pop artists on U.S. tours, promotional events, or international trips to capture content in diverse settings, such as concert venues, studios, or public appearances.
- Content Creation: Produce dynamic footage and photos that align with K-pop aesthetics and social media trends, including fan-favorite formats like fan cams, POV shots, or aesthetic vlogs.
- Equipment Management: Set up, test, and maintain camera gear (e.g., lenses, tripods, gimbals, drones) and accessories, ensuring all equipment is functional and tour-ready.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Content Design Coordinator, Social Media Manager, and directors to align shots with creative briefs, campaign goals, and the artist’s vision.
- Live Event Filming: Record concerts and fan meet-and-greets, adapting to fast-paced environments, stage lighting changes, and crowd dynamics to capture the energy of K-pop performances.
- Technical Adjustments: Adjust camera settings (e.g., ISO, aperture, shutter speed) to suit varied conditions, such as low-light venues or outdoor shoots, ensuring optimal footage quality.
- Footage Organization: Label, organize, and back up footage and photos, transferring files to editors or content teams for post-production or immediate social media use.
- Fan-Focused Content: Create content that resonates with U.S. K-pop fans, such as close-up performance shots or candid artist moments, understanding fan preferences (e.g., fan cam culture).
- Troubleshooting: Resolve technical issues with cameras or equipment on the fly to ensure uninterrupted shooting during live events or tight schedules.
Skills and Qualifications
- K-pop Passion: Dedicated K-pop fan with in-depth knowledge of U.S. fan culture, including fandom dynamics (e.g., stan accounts, fan cams, fan events) and artist-fan interactions.
- Camera Expertise: 1-3 years of experience operating professional cameras for video and photography, with proficiency in equipment like DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, or cinema cameras.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of cinematography principles, including shot composition, lighting, and camera movement, tailored for music and social media content.
- Trend Awareness: Familiarity with TikTok and Instagram content trends, such as viral video formats, filters, or aesthetic styles popular in K-pop fandoms.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments, such as live concerts, and adapt to irregular schedules or last-minute creative changes.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to carry and operate heavy equipment for extended periods, often in crowded or dynamic settings like concert venues.
- Teamwork: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with artists, creative teams, and production staff while respecting K-pop’s cultural context.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to create content that honors K-pop’s Korean roots while appealing to the diverse U.S. fanbase.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in film, cinematography, media production, or a related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Additional Requirements
- Fan Dynamics: Understanding of U.S. K-pop fan preferences, such as demand for fan cams, stage mixes, or artist vlogs, to guide content capture.
- Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing video and photo work, ideally with music-related or K-pop-inspired content, emphasizing short-form or live event footage.
- Language Skills (optional): Basic Korean language skills are a plus for understanding artist interactions or collaborating with Korean teams, but not required.
- Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, with a valid passport and flexibility for extended tour schedules.
